Robert J. Burney was born in Stamford, Connecticut and grew up on the north shore of Long Island. Attorney Burney received his Bachelors of Arts degree from the State University at Albany in 2011. He received his juris doctorate from St. John’s University School of Law in 2016, where Attorney Burney was the Writing Editor for the St. John’s Journal of International and Comparative Law and Skills Director for St. John’s Dispute Resolution Society. During law school, Attorney Burney was the Student Chair for the law student liaison committee of the New York State Bar Associations Entertainment and Sports Law Division. Attorney Burney is admitted to practice in the states of New York and Connecticut.
Attorney Burney is the author of “Three Cheers for Proper Benefits: The Improper Employment Classification of NFL Cheerleaders,” NYSBA Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Journal (Summer 2016 Edition).
Attorney Burney’s areas of practice include commercial litigation, municipal law, land use and real estate, wills, trusts, federal taxation, and entertainment and media law.
